In a recent article, the Geothermal Energy Association featured Cornerstone Sustainable Energy (RCVA) and the Company’s new technology, the PwrCor™ Engine. The PwrCor™ Engine, a thermal hydraulic engine that uses the physical properties of heated liquefied CO2 to push a piston and generate 250kw of power.
According to the article by the Geothermal Energy Association, the PwrCor™ Technology can “recycle water flowing naturally from artisan formations at 850gpm and 93 °C to generate 1.5MW of electricity.” It is important to mention that the PwrCor™ Engine is capable of operating at a wide range of temperatures and can be configured to run using several heat sources.
The article also mentions that PwrCor™ Engine operates at a much lower temperatures than the Organic Rankine Cycle Technology. It can take advantage of geothermal wells with low volume heat flows of low-grade heat which older competing technologies could not convert into power. This engine is designed to provide fuel- and emission-free power. CSE’s PwrCor™ Engine is very effective pump for the oil wells since the engine can produce 250kw of electrical power from 180°F water with flow rates of 150gpm.
Since the PwrCor™ Engine operates at the world’s lowest temperature and low GPM, the geothermal patented technology can be used at any heat source. Multiple fuel options include, solar, geothermal, ocean thermal, natural gas, propane, waste heat and more are options for fuel allowing PwrCor™ Engine users to choose for themselves which heat source is the most cost effective, and provides more options for backup energy.
