College Football News: Charlie Weis Reportedly Fired as Head Coach of Notre Dame

Notre Dame has reportedly fired head coach Charlie Weis after a disappointing season in which the school posted a 6-6 record including losses in the final four games of the year.

Weis was facing enormous pressure heading into his fifth season as head coach but many believed he had a team that could potentially play for a national championship. Those hopes were all but over by week two when the Irish lost to Michigan.

A loss to USC dropped Notre Dame to 4-2 on the year and after a pair of wins they were still looking at a possible BCS bowl game but losses to Navy, Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Stanford ended those hopes and sealed the fate of Weis.
