Staples Reports Rising 3Q Profit

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Staples Inc. reported that retail sales rose one percent to $2.6 billion in the third quarter, attributing the gains to increased consumer spending.

The largest U.S. office supply retailer was positive, adding that this is the first time in five quarters that they rose from a year earlier. The company expects its total sales to rise in the current quarter.

In morning trading, Staples shares jumped 88 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $24.19.
