Memphis Tigers Come Up Huge on Offensive Glass to Beat Texas A&M Aggies

The number two seeded Memphis Tigers managed to grab four offensive rebounds on their final series and then hit a pair of free-throws with 3 seconds left on the clock to beat the Texas A&M Aggies 65-64 and advance to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.

Memphis trailed 64-63 with 47 seconds left in the game when they came down the court for their final possession. Jeremy Hunt missed a three-pointer with 33 seconds on the clock but Antonio Anderson grabbed the offensive board. After a timeout Andre Allen missed a three-pointer but Hunt came away with another off the glass. Hunt then missed a jumper that Robert Dozier came away with, Dozier missed the put-back and Anderson grabbed the Tigers fourth offensive rebound and was fouled with three seconds on the clock. Anderson then hit two free-throws to take the lead and win.

The Aggies trailed 24-21 with 8:46 in the first half but went on an 8-0 run to take a 29-24 lead. Memphis managed to grab a 37-35 lead with two minutes left in the half but Texas A&M scored the last seven points of the half and led 42-37 at the break.

Hunt led the Tigers with 19 points while Chris Douglas-Roberts added 15 in the win.
