For the third straight game Kobe Bryant scored over 50 points and the Los Angles Lakers (36-32) beat the Memphis Grizzlies (17-52) 121-119 for their third straight victory.
Kobe Bryant’s 60 points on Thursday put him in some exclusive company. Bryant became just the fourth NBA player to score over 50 points in three consecutive games, joining Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan. Chamberlain actually strung together seven straight 50-plus games.
Bryant was able to put the Lakers up for good with a jumper at the close of the third quarter. Dahntay Jones brought the Grizzlies to within two with 4:28 remaining in the fourth but Shammond Williams hit a triple for the Lakers and Bryant added a jumper to push the lead back to seven.
While Bryant finished with 60 points on 20-37 shooting Lamar Odom added 20 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
Pau Gasol led the Grizzlies with 35 points and 15 rebounds.
