Carithers Flowers, the second generation, family-owned Atlanta florist, announced that it is recognizing National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during the month of October and National Mammography Day on October 18th. The entire month is dedicated to a wide range of activities around the country, including Atlanta, which focus on awareness events about breast cancer, breast health, and recent research developments as well as mammography events and fundraising events, including walks and runs.
There are a number of Atlanta Breast Cancer Awareness Month events, including Tour De Pink, which starts on October 17th; the Pink Party on October 10th at the Georgia World Congress Center; and The Softer Side, which explores different female artists and serves as a fund-raiser for breast cancer awareness on October 22nd at Huff Harrington Fine Art.
In commenting on breast cancer awareness month, Carithers Flowers Founder Charles Carithers said, “While researchers continue to find a way to make sure cancer takes no more lives, it is very important that we still support cancer organizations and foundations raise money for research and to help those fighting breast cancer. Also, we support National Mammography Day because early detection is the key and can make the difference for women.”
Carithers added, “We are so pleased that we can also help our customers be giving through our Helping Hands program, which includes many cancer organizations. It is an easy way to give when you are already buying flowers, plants, or gifts.”
The Helping Hands Program at Carithers Flowers currently includes the American Cancer Society, Atlanta Hope Lodge and the Ryan Lee Holland Cancer Foundation.
