Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have reportedly signed on to Paramount Pictures “Revolutionary Road” marking the pair’s first movie together since “Titanic”. Based on the novel written by Richard Yates, “Revolutionary Ways” will cast DiCaprio and Winslet in the roles of Frank and April Wheeler.
The film, set in1955 Connecticut suburbia, takes shots at America’s obsession with conformity during the Eisenhower years. While Frank is tied to a corporate job he still sees himself as untamed by the restraints of society. April fills her head with the belief that she will be a famous actress and travel to Paris where her brilliance will be admired.
The couple’s inability to fall in with the status quo leads to a break down in all areas of their life.
DiCaprio and Winslet probably won’t bring the same kind of success to “Revolutionary Road” that they did for “Titanic”. The 1997 film grossed over $1.8 billion in worldwide box-office sales, the highest figure ever attained by a film.
