Pet Food Recall Due to Rat Poison Found in Popular Dog and Cat Food Brands
Speaking on behalf of the State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Jessica Chittenden identified the source of several animal deaths related to pet food. Chittenden would not be specific but did label the primary cause as being a rodent poison found in the pet food.
Last Friday 60 million cans of wet food were recalled by pet food manufacturer Menu Foods after several pet deaths and reports of kidney failure. The manufacturer produces nearly one billion cans of wet food per year.
Menu Foods is also a contract manufacturer for several popular pet food companies that sell their products under brands such as Iams and Eukanuba.
