LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. (October 9, 2013). Allen’s Flower Market, a Long Beach, California-based, family-owned and operated flower shop as well as recipient of Best Long Beach Florist Award in 2012 and 2013, reminds customers that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and October 18th is National Mammography Day.
Local Long Beach cancer awareness, breast health, mammography events and fundraisers are planned for this month’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This includes the Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on October 12th, which includes different bike rides. There are also many events all across Los Angeles, including walks, runs, and health screenings where it is easy to get educated and involved.
In commenting on breast cancer awareness and fundraising for cancer research, Harry Goldman, Owner of Allen’s Flower Market, said, “It is important to us to support such an important cause because I think we all know – or have known – someone who has had to battle breast cancer. The faster it can be detected, the higher chance a woman has for survival, so we want to make sure that more people are aware and more funds are raised to help the research efforts.”
Allen’s Flower Market of Long Beach is proud to offer a unique fund raising program online to benefit local schools, churches, and non-profit organizations in Los Angeles County. Helping Hands was designed as a way to continuously give something back to the local community, including local cancer organizations that sign-up, all year long. With each order placed, a customer can choose to have Allen’s Flower Market make a donation to one of its participating organizations.
