Houston Texans Release David Carr After Picking Up Matt Schaub

The Houston Texans have ended their five-year investment in quarterback David Carr. On Friday the team let their first draft pick in franchise history go, placing the leadership role in newly acquired Matt Schaub.

The 2002 number one overall selection never panned out in the Texans organization and after five frustrating seasons he was released.

Carr failed to produce a single winning season for Houston and finished his Texans stint with 59 touchdowns and 65 interceptions in 76 games.

Matt Schaub, formerly a backup behind Michael Vick in Atlanta, has already been announced as the team’s starting quarterback.
