The Balancing Act takes health issues seriously, especially when it involves your children. In this segment of The Balancing Act KIDStrong® joins the program to educate viewers on child obesity. Tune in on December 3rd at 7:30am as they air on Lifetime Television.
The Balancing Act welcomes to the show—health conscious mom Josie Romero and Dr. George J. Murphy, a molecular biologist and chief scientific officer of KIDStrong Enterprises— makers of KIDStrong® all natural, vitamin packed beverages.
The Balancing Act along with KIDStrong® tackle some very important issues regarding the fact that children are heavier now than decades ago. They addresses what has changed over the years, and just how serious should our concerns be. Dr. Murphy says, “Overweight teenagers have a 70-percent chance of being overweight or obese as adults. Obesity puts children at risk for devastating diseases throughout their lives. We’re already seeing a dramatic increase in type 2 diabetes being diagnosed in kids. And in one study, 60-percent of obese children had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In other words, chubby children may grow up to face diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.”
A big question that’s being raised is… why is this happening? Dr. Murphy adds, “Kids’ lifestyles today are significantly different than they were just a generation ago. Families are always on the go and make food choices based on convenience rather than nutrition. Soda is a prime example. Half of kids have at least one soft drink per day, and some teenagers drink up to 12 cans in a single day. That’s hundreds, if not thousands, of empty calories.”
You won’t want to miss this informative show. They’ll cover everything from diets, to healthy eating and from vitamins to sugars. The Balancing Act and KIDStrong® know that parents can get overwhelmed. This show will hopefully help put you on a path to making a difference not only in your child’s life-- but also in their LIFESTYLE.
KIDStrong® all-natural drink is the result of years of scientific research, both the orange and grape varieties are packed with 22 vitamins and minerals. They help keep kids hydrated without all the sugar found in other popular beverages.
