Bombardier Reports 25 Percent Drop in 3Q Profit

The airplane and train manufacturer Bombardier says its profit fell 25 percent in its third quarter amid harsh economic conditions, according to Associated Press.

 

CEO Pierre Beaudoin says the economic environment remains difficult and affected its activities and financial results, especially at Bombardier Aerospace.

Bombardier Inc. said Thursday earnings available to Bombardier shareholders fell to $167 million, or 9 cents per share, for the quarter ended Oct. 31. That's down from a year-ago profit of $222 million, or 12 cents per share.

 

The company says revenue was little changed at almost $4.6 billion.

 

It says there were 7 net orders for aircraft in the quarter versus 68 a year earlier.

 

It says after the quarter ended, it got an order for 22 jets with a value of $779 million from the parent of regional airline American Eagle.
