Death of Anna Nicole Smith Blamed on Accidental Overdose.

After completing the autopsy, Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper determined that Anna Nicole Smith died from “combined drug intoxication” and ruled it to be an accidental overdose.

Perper concluded that the former Playboy Playmate had died from a combination of sleeping medication, methadone and other medications she was taking. The autopsy revealed that Smith had not been suffering from any diseases and there were no traces of illegal drugs in her system at the time of death.

The 39-year-old blonde had been taking several prescription drugs for anxiety and pain at the time of her death. Perper pointed to chloral hydrate, a sleeping medication, as the major culprit in her accidental overdose.

Smith was found on the floor of her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Feb. 8. She was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
