NFL News: NY Jets QB Mark Sanchez Sprains Posterior Cruciate Ligament, Questionable for Tampa Game

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez sprained his posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during his team’s 19-13 win over the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night and remains questionable for the team’s Dec. 13 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sanchez suffered the injury while diving for a first down in the third quarter and a few plays later he hobbled off the field and didn’t return.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan expressed some frustration with Sanchez following the game, saying “Sometimes, the kid's got to understand we're trying to teach him to slide, I love the kid, but he's got to grow up and understand he represents our entire organization. We want what's best for him.”

Sanchez hurt his left knee last Sunday when he failed to slide while running towards the sideline against the Carolina Panthers. That injury led the Jets to call-in NY Yankees coach Joe Girardi to teach Sanchez sliding tips, something the first-round draft pick failed to use on Thursday.
