Reports have surfaced that the biological mother of Pax Thien, the three-year-old Vietnamese boy recently adopted by Angelina Jolie, may try to fight to have her child returned.
Pham Thu Dung is the boy’s natural mother but she fled the hospital, abandoning her newborn child two days after giving birth because she could not pay the medical bill. It has been rumored that the woman is a heroin addict and when Pax was born he was dangerously underweight.
The hospital eventually sent Pax to Ho Chi Minh City's Tam Binh orphanage where he stayed for three years before Jolie adopted him.
Dung’s own father has been said to have called his daughter a heroin addict and that drugs had ruled her life since she was sixteen. Pax was a product of an affair Dung had with a married man.
With news that Jolie adopted Pax, Dung’s family fears that Pham Thu may try to interfere with the adoption process and demand her child be returned to Vietnam because she never signed the papers. It was her parents who signed the papers paving the way for Jolie to adopt the boy.
Now her father fears his daughter may try to cause trouble and demand money from Jolie or she will fight to have her child returned.
