QualityStocks News - Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics (LCDX) Technology Featured in Boston Globe Article

QualityStocks would like to highlight Caliber I.D. (OTCQB: LCDX), a medical technologies company that designs, develops, and markets innovative imaging solutions that shows tissue at the cellular level. The company is currently the only company in the world to offer in vivo confocal microscopes designed specifically for imaging skin and other tissue. Caliber I.D.’s Rapid Cell ID technology enables scientists and physicians to characterize intact normal and abnormal cellular architecture that is otherwise invisible to the naked eye.

In the company’s news,

Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics, formerly Lucid Inc., reports that on October 14 it was featured in the Boston Globe in an article titled, “Laser imaging device makes no-cut biopsies possible.”

The article focuses on Caliber’s VivaScope devices, which enable doctors to perform biopsies without cutting into skin, eliminating the invasiveness of the procedure and providing immediate results as to whether the area in question is cancerous or not.

VivaScope uses a low-power laser beam to shine through the skin, reflecting off the subsurface tissue and illuminating skin cells in question. The company’s latest device, the VivaScope 3000, is similar to an ultrasound, used by rolling a hand-held wand over the skin and capturing the images on a monitor.

As the Boston Globe reports, Dr. Jane Grant-Kels, chairman of the dermatology department at the University of Connecticut Health Center, said the VivaScope allows her to rule out cancer two-thirds of the time, avoiding unnecessary incisions.

“Patients love it,” Dr. Grant-Kels stated in the article. “Patients love any technology that will give the doc more information and avoid hurting them.”

The article also discusses the company’s efforts to expand its rollout to hospitals – for now, Caliber’s biopsy machines are currently employed in a handful of clinics.
