Pink Sheets and OTCBB (or over the counter bulletin board) are two of the largest micro cap markets, enabling small public companies to receive accurate quotes and market making without having to be listed with a major stock exchange. Companies quoted on the Pink Sheets do not have to be fully reporting or meet the minimum reporting requirements with the SEC. OTCBB companies differ slightly as the OTCBB is often used as a "stepping stone" for companies that do not meet the initial reporting requirements of larger exchanges. Quotes on either exchange reflect the "Bid" or "Offer" of a trader (known as a "market maker") making the buy or sell prices of a company's stock available to almost anyone.
