Amanda Knox Verdict: Guilty, Receives 26 Years in Prison

Amanda Knox, known as Foxy Knoxy in the media, was found guilty Friday of murdering her British roommate Meredith Kercher. An Italian jury convicted Knox, 22, of all 11 counts sexual violence and murder in Kercher’s 2007 stabbing.

Knox cried as the verdict was read. Her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito was also found guilty of 11 counts and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In a separate trial in 2008, 20-year-old Rudy Guede was also found guilty of murdering Kercher. He received 30 years in prison.

The trio is accused of forcing Kercher, 21, to participate in a sadistic sex game. Knox allegedly instructed Sollecito and Guede to hold Kercher down as she teased her with a knife before slashing her throat.

Though Knox gave conflicting statements about her whereabouts the night Kercher was murdered, she was not linked to the killing with DNA.

Attorneys say both Knox and Sollecito plan to appeal their convictions.
