A Binghamton University student stabbed a longtime anthropology
professor to death Friday in a science building on campus. Richard Antoun, 77,
died after being stabbed four times with a 6-inch kitchen knife.
Police took a male suspect in to custody shortly after
the stabbing. The suspect’s name has not been released.
University officials notified students of the stabbing by
text message. Students are advised to stay away from the Science 1 building,
which will remain closed until Saturday.
Binghamton president Lois DeFleur called the killing “an act
of senseless violence.” No other details were available.
