General Motors Co. announced plans to invest $336 million in the Michigan based plant responsible for developing its new rechargeable electric car, the Volt. The Volt is slated for its showroom debut in November 2010.
Bob Lutz, Vice Chairman of GM, is committed to its financial backing of the plant, likely inspired by the knowledge that developing technology could help revive the ailing company.
Last year, Michigan approved a $135.2 million tax incentive for the Flint plant responsible for building the Volts engine and four other nearby plants.
