Shares of Agrium Jump After Upgrade

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Agrium Inc.’s stocks hit a 52-week high today after an analyst upgraded the fertilizer producer and lifted its price target, looking to its strong demand.

UBS analyst Brian MacArthur wrote that fertilizer makers and dealers have been reporting healthy demand for their products, despite the shortened fall season. He said the market seems to think 2010 will be a transition year, with demand stabilizing in 2011. He raised his rating on Agrium to “Buy” from “Neutral” and increased his price target on the shares to $72 from $50.

Agrium stock jumped $2.83 or 4.9 percent, to $60.39 in afternoon trading.
