Facebook Creates Board to Promote Internet Safety

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Facebook is creating a global safety advisory board to protect its users against online predators. Comprising of representatives from five Internet safety groups—Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, WiredSafety, Childnet International and The Family Online Safety Institute—Facebook said the formation of the board formalizes relationships it has had with the groups. The social networking site added that it's open to international expansion among the group members.

In 2008, Facebook signed an agreement with attorney’s general in 49 states to help protect children against online predators, like sex offenders. New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said over 3,500 sex offenders registered in New York have been kicked off Facebook and Myspace in recent months.
