NBA Scores: Dallas Mavericks Top NO/Oklahoma City Hornets for Seventh Straight
Josh Howard scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Jason Terry finished with 19 points and dished out 7 assists as the Dallas Mavericks (59-11) beat the NO/Oklahoma City Hornets (32-39) 105-89 for their seventh straight victory.
The Mavericks shot 55 percent from the floor including 50 percent from beyond the three-point arc as they dropped the Hornets for the 21st consecutive time. Dirk Nowitzki played just 23 minutes but finished with 15 points on 7-9 shooting.
Dallas controlled the entire first quarter and had built a 38-28 lead in the second but the Hornets ran off 11 straight points and grabbed a one point advantage with 6:13 remaining in the half. The Mavericks responded with their own 11-0 run and were quickly back in front by ten with 3:05 left on the clock. Dallas tacked on another two points to their lead and went into the break with a 56-44 advantage.
The second half was nothing pretty for the Hornets as they trailed by as many as 31 points in the fourth quarter before the Mavericks eased up. The Hornets closed the game on an 18-4 run after Dallas emptied their bench.
Jannero Pargo led the Hornets with 23 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
