Notre Dame’s rough season took yet another hit on Monday after junior wide receiver Golden Tate announced he would forgo his senior year and enter April’s NFL Draft.
Tate was Notre Dame’s leading receiver with 93 receptions for 1496 yards and 15 touchdowns and is considered one of the top receivers in the country. While the Irish lacked consistency throughout the year Tate was a steady hand with TD receptions in ten of the team’s twelve games and in one of those games without a touchdown reception he had a rushing TD.
Tate wasn’t the only key member of Notre Dame’s team to say goodbye on Monday, starting quarterback Jimmy Clausen also announced he would forgo his senior season.
