Rashard Lewis scored 21 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Seattle Supersonics (28-42) back from a 25 point deficit and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves (30-40) 114-106.
Minnesota dominated the first three quarter of the game as they jumped on the Supersonics. Mark Blount scored 11 points in the first quarter and the Timberwolves established a nine point advantage. That lead increased to 19 by the end of the first half as Minnesota dropped four three-pointers.
The Timberwolves continued to pour it on in the third quarter and their lead grew to 88-63 with 5:56 with 5:53 left in the period. Seattle was able to cut the deficit to 15 after closing the quarter on a 7-2 run.
Lewis then brought the Supersonics to within 13 after burying a three-pointer but Minnesota continued to keep pace and were up by 15 with just 6:37 left on the clock. Lewis then scored the next eight points for Seattle as the Timberwolves could manage just a single point and the score was 105-97 with 4:56 to play.
Ricky Davis gave the Timberwolves a seven point lead after hitting one of two free-throws and the Minnesota was three minutes away from victory. Unfortunately for the Wolves they couldn’t score a single point the rest of the way as Seattle ran off 13 straight points.
Earl Watson scored 24 points for the Sonics while Chris Wilcox added 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the win.
Kevin Garnett led the Wolves with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists in the loss.
