ScanSource Inc. (NASDAQ: SCSC), which makes bar-code labelers and scanners, said Monday that board member Steven R. Fischer has been named chairman, succeeding James G. Foody, according to Associated Press.

Fischer has been on the company's board since 1995 and is also a financial consultant and a director of Falconstor Software Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC). He has also been president of North Fork Business Capital Corp., its successor Capital One Leverage Finance and Transamerica Business Capital Corp.
Foody has been chairman of ScanSource since 2005 and a company director since 1995. ScanSource said he will remain as a director and has been designated chairman emeritus.
Shares of ScanSource fell 17 cents to $24.40 in afternoon trading Monday.
