Students Gain Advanced Learning Skills from Summer Learning Program
Learning how to learn is a key to building better learners according to an expert in accelerated learning and youth achievement.
Bobbi DePorter, president of Quantum Learning Network and SuperCamp academic summer camps, says that students who learn how they learn best and acquire a joy of learning are destined for greater long-term academic and post-academic success.
"The advanced learning skills we teach students in schools and in our teen summer camps translate into better grades in subsequent school years," says DePorter. "Our research with graduates of SuperCamp also shows a higher percentage of them go directly into a four-year college following high school than the national average."
And there's another component to building successful learners according to Ms. DePorter. Greater confidence, motivation and self-esteem play a role in a student's learning and academic success. More confident and motivated students apply their learning skills more effectively in school and in other facets of life.
As a result, Ms. DePorter's Quantum Learning methods deal with the whole person, providing both learning skills and important life skills that create the total package in middle school, high school and college students.
Ms. DePorter's SuperCamp programs operate at nine schools across the U.S. from late June through August. These 7-day, 8-day and 10-day enrichment programs are targeted to specific ages and grade levels. In 2010, the locations include, Stanford, Brown, UCLA and Wake Forest, among others.
These summer academic programs are in high demand each year and are limited in their capacity, so parents of students from fifth grade through college are urged to visit www.QLN.com to learn more or to call 800-285-3276 with questions.
