The New York Yankees are said to be close to landing Detroit Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson, a deal which would involve the Arizona Diamondbacks as well.
According to reports the Yankees would receive center fielder Granderson, the Tigers would add Phil Coke and Austin Jackson from New York and Max Scherzer and Daniel Scheleret from Arizona and the Diamondbacks would pick up Edwin Jackson from Detroit and Ian Kennedy from New York.
Granderson is coming off a season in which he hit .249 with 30 home runs and 71 RBIs and while he has been a fan favorite in Detroit the club has been looking to cut payroll. His current contract would pay him $5.5 million next year while he would receive $8.25 million in 2011 and $10 million in 2012. The club also held a $13 million option for 2013.
