Nothing shocking about this 'American Idol' vote. Simon Cowell even said before it would happen. Chris Sligh has left the building and to show you how numb people have become to the American Idol voting debacle, it didn’t surprise a soul.
With Sligh gone that obviously means Sanjaya Malakar moves into the top nine. Like an underperforming employee that has managed to get some dirt on the boss, Malakar remains and will have the opportunity to work with Tony Bennett next week. Not exactly what the crooner had in mind when he signed up for this mess.
While Sligh probably deserved to go after destroying “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic,” the true catastrophe of American Idol is presented in the next two competitors with the lowest vote total. Phil Stacey actually sounded good in his performance of “Every Breath You Take,” and Haley Scarnato, while in no way coming close to Cyndi Lauper, got through “True Colors.”
Sanjaya has a great chance at making the top five after Stacey and Scarnato move on over the next two weeks and Chris Richardson and Gina Glocksen follow. After that the faux-hawked Malakar will undoubtedly be sent home, either by the public or American Idol. Be ready America there will probably be a congressional hearing when Sanjaya gets the boot, the fix is in on the next American Idol.
