U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps won the 200-meter individual medley at the world championships in Australia Thursday night in one minute, 54.98 seconds setting his third world record in three days.
Phelps had already set world records in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly. The 21-year-old Olympic gold medalist has collected four gold medals at the world championships and has his eyes set on eight. Along with his three individual gold medals he was part of the 400 freestyle relay that took the top spot.
With the 100 butterfly and 400 individual medley still to come along with spots on the 400 medley and 800 free relays Phelps has a chance to capture those eight.
