Shawn Henry, who is a deputy manager in the Division of Cyber Criminality, FBI wrote a letter to Congressman Spencer Bachus regarding his observations on possibilities of cheating in online poker sites. According to him cheating in online poker sites is very much possible and gamers take advantage of the technology. The congress is presently considering the possibilities of legalizing online poker. But, a group is acting against the move and it is trying to gather proofs on possibilities of cheating on those sites. This can slow down the process of legalizing online poker sites. Mr. Henry is one of them who are not in favor of legalizing online poker.
According to Mr. Henry, cheating is possible in many ways in online poker sites. There are several illegal methods through which one can manipulate the results in these sites leading to frauds. He also suggests that there are technical methods of carrying out the cheats and almost anyone can do it. Some players can group together to rob the money of other players. He insists that there should be strict legislation that would force the site owners to have a license and adopt measures to make their sites more secured against cheating. The sites should be more vigilant on preventing frauds and should also make the technology full proof against cheating. The sites should also promote responsible gambling and prevent minors from gambling. Moreover, the sites should try to protect the interest of their players other than concentrating on making profits.
