Britney Spears and Kevin Federline Reach Divorce Settlement
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have reportedly reached a settlement on their divorce after a five-hour meeting involving the couple and their attorneys.
The meeting took place in Los Angeles in the same building Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser, has an office. While details of the agreement have not been made known it is believed that Spears, 25, and Federline, 29, have resolved all issues concerning the divorce and it will now be up to a judge to recognize the agreement.
Spears had filed for divorce in November 2006 after two years of marriage to the former back-up dancer. The couple have two children together, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and for awhile it appeared as if they would be at the center of a custody battle once the divorce papers were filed.
Shortly after it was made known that the couple were splitting Spears went on a partying spree that kept the media busy. The one-time pop icon became a fixture at clubs and bars from Los Angeles to New York and was toted around like an accessory by Paris Hilton for a short time.
It wasn’t long before the partying caught up with Spears and several high-profile episodes led many to believe that she was sinking fast. A couple of 24-hour stints in rehab in February eventually led to a longer stay at Malibu’s Promises treatment center where Spears stayed for nearly a month.
Spears left Promises on March 20 and has kept a relatively low-profile since.
