Hundreds of Operation Smile supporters in Richmond will gather for the 25th Anniversary Gala to help children around the world suffering with facial deformities. The evening will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and live musical performance by Bill Deal’s Original Rhondels. The evening’s co-chairs are Dr. W. Baxter Perkinson Jr. and Dr. Terry D. Dickinson, Executive Director of the Virginia Dental Association.
Midlothian resident and pediatric dentist Roger E. Wood will receive the Universal Smile Award for his contributions to helping children throughout the Richmond area. Dr. Wood is a pediatric dentist with Wood, Dunlevy, Lombardozzi and Eddleton in Midlothian. He graduated from the MCV School of Dentistry and completed his residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Indiana University Medical Center Children's Hospital. He taught Pediatric Dentistry at the MCV Dental School for six years. The Governor appointed Dr. Wood to the Virginia State Board of Dentistry, where he has also served as president of the Board. He is President-Elect of the Richmond Dental Society, former President of the ADA Council on Dental Education and Licensure and currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Richmond American Society of Dentistry for Children, and the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped.
