Shawn Marion scored 33 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Steve Nash added 18 points and 11 assists as the Phoenix Suns (54-18) overcame a twelve point first quarter deficit to send the Denver Nuggets (35-36) to their third straight loss 125-108.
Allen Iverson scored 13 points in the opening quarter and Denver held the Suns to just three points over the final 3:30 of the first quarter to lead 36-24.
Denver continued to roll in the second quarter, building their lead to 18 after Iverson drove for a layup with 7:15 left in the half. Phoenix crept their way back into the game and used a 17-9 run to head into halftime down by just five, 65-60.
The Nuggets tried to maintain control in the third quarter and held a seven point lead after two minutes had past. The Suns then responded with a 21-4 burst and jumped to an 85-75 lead with 4:31 left in the period and effectively buried Denver.
Carmelo Anthony finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets while Iverson added 26 points in the loss.
