Udonis Haslem scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Jason Williams added 15 points and 10 assists as the Miami Heat (39-33) used a complete team effort to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves (30-42) 92-77.
All five starters for the Heat scored in double figures and recorded 28 assists as a team to send the Timberwolves to their third straight loss.
Miami opened the game with the first bucket and never trailed in the game. The Heat used a 10-0 run mid way through the first to take control and led at the end of the quarter 25-14.
The Heat’s lead was quickly upped to 17 in the second quarter but Minnesota fought back and ran off eleven straight and cut their deficit to six with 5:47 left in the half. Miami answered with three-pointers from Eddie Jones and Jason Williams to push their lead back to twelve and that would be the difference at the half.
Minnesota steadily climbed back in to the game and had whittled the Heat lead down to four with 8 seconds left in the third quarter but James Posey dropped a 31-foot three-pointer with 3 seconds left to give Miami a 64-57 advantage.
Miami used a 9-2 run to begin the fourth quarter and ended any hopes the Timberwolves had of getting the win. Minnesota was able to get as close as eight but the Heat used another 9-2 run to end the game.
Kevin Garnett finished with 22 points and 20 rebounds for Minnesota.
