The Boston Red Sox will be dealing third baseman Mike Lowell to the Texas Rangers for catcher Max Ramirez according to several reports.
As part of the deal the Red Sox would still pay $9 million of Lowell’s $12 million salary.
Texas would almost certainly use Lowell as a designated hitter and part-time first baseman as his mobility has been affected by a surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip following the 2008 season.
Boston will be picking up the 25-yaer-old Ramirez who has played in sparring with the Rangers.
