Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Brazil’s Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), or Petrobras, announced yesterday that the six-block area in they were exploring in northern Peru isn’t commercially viable. The company will not be developing them.

Also analyzing the blocks was Columbia’s Ecopetrol and Peru’s state-owned Petroperu SAA.

"There isn't any viable project. There isn't merit from a technical point of view," said Petrobras Peru General Manager Pedro Grijalba at a press conference.

The blocks are all in the department of Loreto near the Columbian border.
