Brazil Trade Sanctions Might Affect Marine Industry

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

The National Marine Manufacturers Association reported today that Brazil was given authorization from the World Trade Organization to impose trade sanctions on U.S. imports.

In what is being called a retaliation for the failure by the United States to comply with a WTO dispute ruling condemning U.S. government subsidies to cotton farmers, Brazil has published a list—that includes boats and engines—of the U.S. products that will be heavily tariffed.

The NMMA is now urging all members who sell products in Brazil to alert their business partners of the pending tariffs and ask them to contact the Brazilian government asking that boats and marine engines be taken off the list.
