North Korean Cargo Plane Seized in Thailand, Cache of Weapons Discovered

A North Korean cargo plane making an emergency refueling stop in Thailand has been seized and its crew detained after a large cache of weapons was discovered aboard the craft.

According to reports the plane had taken off from Pyongyang head for an undisclosed destination. The pilot made an emergency fuel request ad after landing military officials searched the plane and found 40 tons of weapons including rocket-propelled grenades and missiles.

While the fight destination has not been disclosed a Thai official was quoted as saying “It came from North Korea and was heading for somewhere in South Asia, probably Pakistan.”

Upon landing in Thailand the crew, four from Kazakhstan and one from Belarus, told officials they had been carrying oil drilling equipment.
