Adrian Peterson collected 137 total yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns, Brett Favre threw for 192 yards and a TD and the Minnesota Vikings (11-2) defense held the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) to just 210 yards of offense in a 30-10 victory on Sunday.
After a scoreless first quarter the Vikings grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second on a 41-yard field goal from Ryan Longwell. That was followed up with a 9-yard touchdown toss from Favre to Sidney Rice to push the advantage to 10-0. The Bengals countered with a score of their own though as Carson Palmer found Chad Ochocinco on a 15-yard touchdown to get Cincinnati within 10-7. Longwell gave the Vikings some breathing room with a 23-yard field goal with 35 seconds left in the half and following a Bengals fumble Longwell added a 44-yard field goal to give Minnesota a 16-7 lead at the break.
Minnesota extended their lead to 23-7 in the third quarter when Peterson scored on a one-yard run and the Vikings defense stuffed the Bengals offense the rest of the way. Shayne Graham put three more points on the board for Cincinnati early in the fourth quarter but Peterson sealed the game for Minnesota when he scored on a 3-yard run with 3:24 left in the final frame.
The Vikings managed to convert 8-14 third down attempts and collected 21 first downs while the Bengals picked up just 13 first downs in the game.
