Know your target demographic, and appeal to THEM!

If you’re targeting female baby boomers, don’t put a 25 year-old bombshell in an ad. That’s not what they want to see. JoJo Iles, a fashion writer for FashionCapital.co.uk, says market research shows that women respond to role models of their own generation and as they get older these role models need to represent more than just surface beauty.

 

If you’re targeting tweens (ages 7-12), then realize they are at an age where they’re dying to be accepted. They want to be considered “cool” by their peers. If you don’t meet the “cool” standards, you’re product, or your advertisement, won’t stick.

 

These are just a couple of examples. Again, know who you are trying to target with your campaign. Then put yourself in that demographic’s shoes, and appeal to their wants and desires.
