Heather Mills, Joey Fatone, Ian Ziering and Leeza Gibbons all tied atop the judges cards on Monday night’s episode of 'Dancing with the Stars,' leaving just a few couples sweating coming into tonight’s vote.
Mills and her partner Jonathan Roberts danced the Tango and earned high praise from the judges. Len Goodman told her it was her “best dance so far” and Bruno Tonioli quipped “you’re back in business.” With a score of 24 out of 30 Gibbons should survive this evening’s elimination.
Fatone and Mills continue to receive the judges praises after Fatone performed the Tango and Mills the Jive. Carrie Ann Inaba called Fatone’s performance “beautiful” while Bruno Tonioli told Mills, “I think I have to rename you as the incredible Heather Mills.” Both Fatone and Mills received a 24 out of 30 on the judge’s cards.
Former 90210’er Ian Ziering is proving that he can dance as he once again stayed among the leaders on Monday’s show. Inaba told Ziering that “the Jive is your dance” as he scored a 24.
Laila Ali and Apolo Anton Ohno got through their roughest night yet but should have no problems making it past the vote. Ali’s Tango was called disjointed by Goodman and Ohno’s Jive was considered a bit “sloppy” by Inaba. Ali scored a 21 while Ohno was awarded a 23.
Billy Ray Cyrus has become a favorite of the judges for his continued improvement. On Monday night the country star was told that he was heading in the right direction by Tonioli. Cyrus finished with 21 points, the same total for Shandi Finnessey. Finnessey earned compliments from the judges but has yet to give a truly notable performance to set herself apart.
John Ratzenberger and Clyde Drexler finished with the two lowest scores on the night but could still survive the elimination vote. Ratzenberger’s Tango led Inaba to comment “the character was great, the technique not so good,” while Drexler’s Jive was described as “a bit fuzzy and blurred at the edges” by Tonioli.
Most believe it is Finnessey who will be eliminated in tonight’s show. She hasn’t been able to capture the judges or audience yet and that usually weighs more than a performance. If it’s not Finnessey then Drexler will probably be packing his bags.
