AT&T (NYSE:T) to Acquire Alltel Subscribers

AT&T (NYSE:T) expects to complete the acquisition of 1.5 million Alltel subscribers by the first quarter of next year.  The subscribers were divested by Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) in an attempt to earn regulatory approval for the company’s purchase of Alltel.  The acquisition will include subscribers and assets of both Verizon and the former Rural Cellular Corp.

AT&T, Inc. provides services in the United States and around the world.  The company acquired Plusmo, Inc in September 2009.  It also acquired VeriSign’s global security consulting business in October 2009.
