Pepsi-Owned Gatorade Calls Timing of Discontinued Tiger Woods Drink ‘Coincidental’

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Last week, Pepsi-owned Gatorade confirmed that it was dropping its Gatorade Tiger Focus brand, but called the move pre-planned and “coincidental”.

The Tiger Focus brand hit the shelves in 2008 and Beverage Digest reported that its sales volume was down 34% this year through October.

"We decided several months ago to discontinue Gatorade Tiger Focus along with some other products to make room for our planned series of innovative products in 2010," said Gatorade spokeswoman Jen Schmit in a statement.

The decision to drop Tiger Focus was first reported by trade publication Beverage Digest in an issue dated Nov. 25, though editor John Sicher told the Associated Press he learned of the decision the week of Nov. 9.
