Shaquille O’Neal scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Udonis Haslem scored 16 and grabbed 9 boards as the Miami Heat (40-34) beat the Toronto Raptors (41-33) 92-89.
The Heat got ten points from Jason Williams in the first quarter as Miami finished the period with a 30-25 lead. That lead was increased to 14 in the second quarter after Toronto went nearly four minutes without a basket. Miami closed the half on a 10-4 run to go into the break with a 56-43 lead.
Toronto opened the third quarter on a 9-2 run to cut the Miami lead to six but they couldn’t get any closer than that in the period.
Eddie Jones pushed the Heat lead to nine in the fourth but the Raptors cut the lead to two on a Luke Jackson three-pointer with 4:35 remaining in the game. Shaq put the Heat up by four with a hook but the Raptors climbed to within one on a three-point play from Chris Bosh with 44 seconds left. Miami was able to seal the game from the foul line as James Posey hit four from the charity stripe in the final 17 seconds for the win.
Bosh led the Raptors with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
