800,000 Doses of Swine Flu Vaccine for Children Recalled

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

After tests indicated they might not be potent enough to protect against the virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recalling thousands of doses of swine flu vaccine. The recall involves roughly 800,000 doses—prefilled syringes intended for children 6 months to three years—made by Sanofi Pasteur.

Officials say it’s unclear how many doses have already been administered, but, as of this morning, do not recommend that children be re-vaccinated. The affected doses passed potency tests upon shipping, but further tests indicate the potency waned afterwards.
