Brazil and U.S. Agree Honduras Should Allow Zelaya to Leave Honduras Freely

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Yesterday, Brazil and the U.S. agreed that the Honduras government should allow deposed President Manuel Zelaya, currently trapped in the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to leave the country freely.

Zelaya was ousted by a political-military coup on June 28 and has been in the embassy since Sept 21.

Brazil and the United States share the view that the election held on Nov. 29 in Honduras does not solve the country's political problems but the countries differ on the effects it will have on the democratic continuity. The US is joined by Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru is congratulating Honduran National Party President Porfirio Lobo while Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala and Venezuela refuse to recognize the results of the coup-run elections.
