Iran Successfully Test-Fires Medium-Range Missile

Iran has said they have successfully test-fired a medium-range missile that has the capability of striking Israel as well as U.S. military bases in the Gulf region.

News of the Sajjil-2 rocket-testing was met with harsh criticism by the West as it added to their allegations Iran was moving toward developing nuclear weapons. Iran has continued to insist their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes but that claim hasn’t convinced the West.

A White House spokesman addressed Wednesday’s news stating the actions “will increase the seriousness and resolve of the international community to hold Iran accountable for its continued defiance of its international obligations on its nuclear program.”

Iran is already facing sanctions imposed by the United Nations for violating nuclear agreements and could face further sanctions for Wednesday’s test-firing. Those sanctions have had little effect on Iran as they have already expressed willingness to further enrich their uranium to a higher degree than what they had previously announced.
