Billy Donovan, the head coach who lead the Florida Gators basketball squad to back-to-back national championships, is reportedly ready to try for a third at the Gainesville university.
In a meeting with Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley, Donovan, 41, declared that he would not pursue the University of Kentucky head coaching job but would likely sign an extension to remain with the Florida program.
If Donovan is to achieve a three-peat with the Gators it will have to be with a new starting five. Donovan was already losing senior Lee Humphrey but now will face life without juniors Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer and Taurean Green. The foursome is expected to announce they will be entering the NBA Draft later today.
Florida beat Ohio State on Monnday night for the national championship to become the first school to ever win back-to-back titles with the same starting five.
