Garmin VIRB Elite Best Action Camera 2013 Says HRWC

Garmin VIRB Elite uses GPS and a barometric altimeter to split screen action video with maps all of which led to its selection as the best action camera of 2013 by Heart Rate Watch Company.

Garmin VIRB Elite is a new HD action camera from Garmin and it is the best new action camera of 2013 according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

"I've evaluated technical gear for over 20 years and set a skiing world vertical record and the VIRB Elite is the action camera I'd want along on my adventures," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "The features are superior to any other camera on the market today."

Features

"Garmin VIRB Elite offers split screens with complete HD action on one side and full GPS maps on the other, which gives a more complete interaction with the action," says Squire. He adds, "It's also equipped with Wi-Fi for wireless communication to your smartphone or computer, so you can see the image preview even while the camera is still running."

"You can get dramatic slow motion with speeds up to 120 fps and even use the camera underwater with an optional dive case that is good to 50 meters," says Squire. He adds, "You can also remote control the VIRB Elite with a Garmin Tactix, fenix, Edge 810 and several other Garmin devices."

Longer Battery Life

"Garmin uses a 2,000mAh battery while GoPro uses 1,200mAh, so you can film longer, up to 3 hours of continuous footage," says Squire. He adds, "The VIRB is also built more aerodynamically and is not a large, flat surface area."

Barometric Altimeter

VIRB Elite has a barometric altimeter meaning that it can provide accurate altitude data which is especially useful for sports like skiing and mountain biking. "The camera also has a built in compass and high resolution, full color playback screen so there is no guessing on your shot," says Squire. He adds, "It even shoots video and stills simultaneously."

VIRB Edit

"Garmin offers a complimentary VIRB Edit software that makes your videos super easy to edit and upload to share with friends," says Squire. He adds, "I've used the software several times and it is quite easy to use."

Where to Buy

VIRB Elite is in stock now at the Heart Rate Watch Company for $399.99 and comes with helmet and surface mounting hardware. "You'll need to get 64GB micro SD card to install in the camera to have adequate storage but other than this it is good to go," says Squire.
